Tulsi das Akhera (Tulshidham) was established in 1720 AD in the name of Mahatma Tulsi das as a place of worship for the Hindu-speaking Hindustani soldiers of the Mughal army. Originally this institution belonged to the Ramayat community. In 1800, Narsingh Das, the zamindar of Nandankanan, established the statue of Sri Sri Madan Mohanji for the worship of Vaishnava devotees.
